Do I need ELDT if I got my CDL before February 2022?+
No. CDLs issued before February 7, 2022 are grandfathered — you don't need retroactive ELDT. However, if you're upgrading to a higher class (e.g., Class B to Class A) or adding a new endorsement (Hazmat, Passenger, School Bus), you'll need ELDT for that upgrade or endorsement, even if your original license is grandfathered.
Is DLA Academy FMCSA-approved in West Virginia?+

CDL-A Theory ELDT ($20) is the federally-mandated training required by the FMCSA. You need both: ELDT to satisfy the federal mandate, and Permit Prep to study for the WV DMV's CLP knowledge test. They serve different purposes.
Do I need behind-the-wheel training, and does DLA Academy provide it?+
Yes, behind-the-wheel (BTW) training is required for CDL-A and CDL-B licenses. DLA Academy provides the online theory portion only. You must complete BTW separately at a local FMCSA-registered driver training school in West Virginia. ELDT does not replace BTW — both are mandatory steps.
