Illinois Passenger ELDT — P Endorsement Training

Any Illinois driver applying for a P endorsement (to operate vehicles with 16 or more passengers, including the driver) must complete FMCSA-approved ELDT. If you held a CDL issued before February 7, 2022, you're grandfathered and don't need ELDT for endorsements you already have — but upgrades and new endorsements still require it. Check with IL SOS if you're unsure about your specific situation.

Complete FMCSA-approved ELDT (which you're doing with DLA Academy), then contact the Illinois Secretary of State — Driver Services (IL SOS) to schedule your skills test. You'll also need to pass the P endorsement knowledge test covering passenger vehicle operation and safety. IL SOS handles all testing and licensing — DLA provides the mandatory training.
