What's the difference between CDL-A and CDL-B?+

CDL-A qualifies you to operate Class A commercial vehicles (semis, tractor-trailers, over 26,001 lbs combined GVWR). CDL-B qualifies you for Class B vehicles (straight trucks, buses, 26,001 lbs or less). Both require theory ELDT before your NY DMV skills test. Most trucking jobs need CDL-A.
