Do I need ELDT if I got my CDL before February 7, 2022?+
If you obtained your CDL (Class A, B, or C) before February 7, 2022, you are grandfathered and do not need retroactive ELDT. However, if you are upgrading to a higher class (e.g., Class B to Class A) or adding a new endorsement (Hazmat, Passenger, or School Bus), you must complete the relevant ELDT course, even if your original license is pre-2022. Check with the NH DMV to confirm your specific situation.
What about the behind-the-wheel (BTW) training?+
ELDT covers the online theory portion required by the FMCSA. Behind-the-wheel training is a separate, mandatory step that you must complete at a local FMCSA-registered BTW provider — DLA Academy does not provide BTW. After you finish DLA's ELDT course, work with a local New Hampshire BTW provider to schedule your on-road training before you take the skills test with the NH DMV.
How do I use my ELDT completion certificate with the NH DMV?+
When you complete any DLA Academy ELDT course, your certificate is automatically submitted to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry within 24 hours. The NH DMV queries the TPR to verify your ELDT — you do not need to print or mail anything. When you apply for your CDL skills test with the NH DMV, your ELDT will already be on record. If you want a copy of your completion certificate for your records, DLA Academy will email it to you immediately after you finish the course.
