Arkansas CDL Requirements — Quick Reference

To get any Commercial Driver's License in Arkansas you'll work through Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration — Office of Driver Services (AR DFA). Federal ELDT requirements apply across all 49 states — DLA Academy's online theory courses satisfy the ELDT mandate, and behind-the-wheel training (where required for CDL A or CDL B) must be completed locally at an FMCSA-registered BTW provider.

For Hazmat endorsements, Arkansas uses the standard IDEMIA TSA enrollment process — schedule your fingerprinting through Universal Enroll.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What ELDT courses does DLA Academy offer?+
We offer five FMCSA-approved ELDT courses: CDL-A Theory ELDT ($20) — required before your Class A CDL skills test; CDL-B Theory ELDT ($20) — required before your Class B CDL skills test; Hazmat ELDT ($20) — required for the H endorsement; Passenger ELDT ($20) — required for the P endorsement (16+ passenger vehicles); and School Bus ELDT ($20) — required for the S endorsement. We also sell CDL-A Permit Prep ($15), a 119-question DMV practice tool for the CLP knowledge test — it's not FMCSA ELDT but pairs with CDL-A Theory ELDT to get you ready for both the written test and the skills test.
Do you offer bundles?+
Yes. The CDL Complete Bundle ($45) includes CDL-A Theory ELDT, CDL-B Theory ELDT, and CDL-A Permit Prep — that's $55 individual, so you save $10. The 3-Endorsement Bundle ($50) bundles Hazmat, Passenger, and School Bus ELDT — normally $60 individual, saves $10. The Hazmat + DMV Test Prep Bundle ($30) pairs Hazmat ELDT with CDL-A Permit Prep — normally $35, saves $5. All bundles are genuine discounts.
How long does an ELDT course take?+
Each FMCSA-approved ELDT course completes in under 2 hours. You can finish on your own schedule — there's no instructor-led class or fixed session time. Once you complete, your certificate is auto-submitted to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry within 24 hours, and the AR DFA will verify it when you apply for your license or endorsement.
Do I need behind-the-wheel training after ELDT?+
Yes. CDL-A and CDL-B applicants must complete behind-the-wheel (BTW) training separately at a local FMCSA-registered provider. DLA Academy covers the online theory portion only. Hazmat, Passenger, and School Bus ELDT are theory only — no BTW requirement for those endorsements.
How do I get started with DLA Academy?+
Choose the course(s) or bundle you need, pay online, and log in immediately. You'll work through the ELDT modules at your own pace. Once you pass and complete the course, your certificate auto-submits to the FMCSA TPR. You'll then take your DMV knowledge test and skills test with the AR DFA. If you have questions about Arkansas-specific licensing steps, contact the Office of Driver Services directly.
