Arkansas CDL-B Theory ELDT — Online Class B Training

CDL-B Theory ELDT covers the foundational knowledge for Class B commercial vehicles — vehicle inspection, safe operation, load security, hazard perception, and on-road decision-making. It is theory only; you still need to complete behind-the-wheel training (BTW) separately at a local FMCSA-registered provider before taking your skills test with AR DFA.

Yes, DLA Academy is FMCSA-approved and listed on the Training Provider Registry (TPR). When you complete CDL-B Theory ELDT, your completion is automatically submitted to the FMCSA TPR within 24 hours. AR DFA verifies your ELDT status by checking the TPR — you do not need to submit anything yourself.

Anyone obtaining a new CDL-B license on or after February 7, 2022, must complete FMCSA-approved ELDT. If you held a valid CDL-B before February 7, 2022, you are grandfathered and do not need retroactive ELDT. However, if you're upgrading from Class C to Class B, or adding a new endorsement (like Hazmat or Passenger), you will need ELDT for that upgrade or endorsement — grandfathering does not apply to new credentials.
