Do I need ELDT for all three endorsements in California?+
Yes—if you're getting your CDL for the first time after February 7, 2022, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (CA DMV) requires FMCSA-approved ELDT before the skills test for Hazmat, Passenger, and School Bus endorsements. However, if your CDL was issued before February 7, 2022, you are grandfathered in and do not need ELDT. Upgrades to an existing CDL still require ELDT for new endorsements.
