Quick answer: ELDT in Oklahoma costs $20 per course at DLA Academy — FMCSA-approved, online, completed in under 2 hours, and auto-submitted to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry within 24 hours. Service Oklahoma (Service OK) verifies completion through the federal TPR before testing. Required only for first-time CDL applicants and endorsement-adds after February 7, 2022.
Getting your CDL in Oklahoma means working through Service Oklahoma (Service OK), which handles all commercial driver license services in the state. The federal FMCSA ELDT mandate took effect February 7, 2022 — if you're new to the CDL or adding an endorsement, you need to complete an FMCSA-approved online training course before you can test. DLA Academy is FMCSA-approved and listed on the Training Provider Registry. We offer the courses Oklahoma drivers need at the lowest price in the industry.
Oklahoma — State-Specific Note

Oklahoma CDLs are issued by Service Oklahoma (Service OK). Service Oklahoma absorbed driver licensing from the Department of Public Safety in the recent state-agency consolidation — older references to 'Oklahoma DPS' for CDL processing are out of date and should now point to Service Oklahoma. Oklahoma CDL Requirements — Quick Reference

To get any Commercial Driver's License in Oklahoma you'll work through Service Oklahoma (Service OK). Federal ELDT requirements apply across all 49 states — DLA Academy's online theory courses satisfy the ELDT mandate, and behind-the-wheel training (where required for CDL A or CDL B) must be completed locally at an FMCSA-registered BTW provider.

For Hazmat endorsements, Oklahoma uses the standard IDEMIA TSA enrollment process — schedule your fingerprinting through Universal Enroll.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need ELDT to get my CDL in Oklahoma?+
Yes — if you obtained your first CDL on or after February 7, 2022. Drivers who got their CDL before that date are grandfathered in and don't need retroactive ELDT. However, if a grandfathered driver wants to add a new endorsement (Hazmat, Passenger, School Bus) or upgrade to a higher license class, ELDT is required for that addition or upgrade. Service OK (Service Oklahoma) verifies your ELDT completion through the FMCSA Training Provider Registry.
What's the difference between ELDT and the permit test?+
ELDT is federal online training required by the FMCSA. The permit test is the CDL knowledge test you take at Service Oklahoma to get your Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). CDL-A Theory ELDT covers the topics tested on the permit (general knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicles), and our CDL-A Permit Prep ($15) is a 119-question practice tool to help you study for that test. Both are separate steps.
What is DLA Academy's FMCSA approval and how does it work in Oklahoma?+
DLA Academy is FMCSA-approved and listed on the Training Provider Registry. When you complete any ELDT course with us, your certificate is auto-submitted to the FMCSA TPR within 24 hours. Service OK queries the TPR to verify that you've completed ELDT before you can schedule your CDL skills test. You don't submit anything to Service OK yourself — the FMCSA system handles the verification.
Do I need to complete behind-the-wheel (BTW) training, and does DLA provide it?+
Yes, BTW is a mandatory, separate step for Class A and Class B CDLs. DLA Academy covers the online theory portion only. You must complete BTW at a local FMCSA-registered provider. Hazmat, Passenger, and School Bus endorsements are theory-only and do not require BTW.
How do I know if DLA Academy is right for me, and what state agencies should I contact?+
DLA Academy is the lowest-priced FMCSA-approved option (individual courses $20 each; bundles $30–$50). We're accepted in 49 states, including Oklahoma. For Oklahoma-specific CDL rules, licensing questions, or information about Service OK driver license offices, visit the Service Oklahoma website or call their commercial driver license section directly. Our ELDT courses meet the federal requirement; Service OK handles the rest.
